The Liberty Bell hangs in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The bell weighs about 2,000 lbs. and is made of bronze. It’s 70% copper, 25% tin and contains small amounts of lead, gold, arsenic, silver, and zinc.

It was made back in 1751 and has a Bible verse on it that says, “Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.” That means, everyone in our country should hear about the freedoms that we are blessed to have.

In 1865 the Liberty Bell became a symbol of freedom in America. This was right after a very difficult time in our nation, the Civil War.

Before 1865, not everyone who lived in America was free. Thankfully, we had people fighting to change this and make America a place where everyone could be free.
