Who Was Sacagawea?

Sacagawea

Sacagawea or Bird Woman, was born in the late 1700’s. She was a Shoshone and lived with her people high in the Rocky Mountains. (Montana/Idaho/Wyoming). As a very young girl, she was taken captive by a wandering Mandan War Party. She was approximately ten years old at that time. The Mandan tribe took her, among other captives, back to their home-lodges in North Dakota. Sacagawea recalled having a very large dog as a constant companion. The dog was her pet and was a great comfort to her against feelings of loneliness and fear. She had to learn to speak Mandan. When she was thirteen years old, she was given, as a bride, to an obnoxious French fur trapper/trader, named Toussaint Charbonneau. Then Sacajawea also learned to speak French. When she was fifteen years old, she gave birth to a son named Jean Baptist Charbonneau.

Could it have made her angry, sad, and rebellious?

Have you ever had a scary or sad event in your life help you become a stronger person?
