Color Coded Timeline & Map
Practice: Get ready for some activities.
Activities are designed to be parent- or teacher-supervised.
Activity 1
Step 1
Have the children go back and review the lessons over the 13 colonies to complete this activity.Step 2
Research and find out the names and dates that each colony was established.
Step 3
Create a timeline on large paper or tape several pieces of paper together to create a timeline.
Step 4
Clearly label each colony on the timeline and on the map using a black pen or marker.
Step 5
Color code each colony on the timeline and on a matching map.
Step 5
. Present the timeline to your class and explain which one is your favorite and why.
Activity 2
Watch the video and pay attention to the materials and supplies you will need.
Teacher Notes:
- Ask the students to write down how many pounds of tea they think were dumped into the bay.
- Replay the cartoon episode at the beginning of the course and have the students make note of how much tea was dumped.
- Ask the students if they felt the tea was significant enough to change the color of the water.
- Introduce activity 2, making note of the amount of work it would take the colonists to dump the tea in secret!
